Join our photo-based competition, part of the online programming around the exhibition “The Place I Call Home” (TPICH) running from 7 March – 31 May 2020 at Maraya Art Centre, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, in which you can tell us through your own photographs what the place you call home looks like.
What is the place you call home? How does this place make you feel? And if home is not even a place, what is it then for you? Let images be your guide to formulate your response and add a line or two to join in the conversation what your understanding of home is.
In a time when staying at home is essential for public health, this competition asks viewers to reevaluate domestic surroundings and living environments, both near and far. The artists of this exhibition, among them, photographers like Richard Allenby-Pratt, Ammar Al Attar, Gillian Robertson and Ben Soedira, all have shared their very own take on the concept of home and belonging to a place.
Submit your photos by latest 31 May 2020 and share them on Instagram using the #TPICH_UAE hashtag in order to get the chance to win a camera, a digital photo frame or a photo book. Winners will be selected by a committee of representatives from ffotogallery, the British Council and Maraya Art Centre and will be notified in the first week of June 2020 about their prizes.
Join in the fun and, most importantly, see your home again with new eyes!
Happy photographing and stay safe
